More about Mel
Hello I’m Mel, a mum of two gorgeous little ones and a personal trainer and pilates instructor. I’m originally from Newcastle however i’ve spent most of my time, since the age of 18 living and working in London, first as a performer and over the past 12 years as a Personal Trainer and Pilates Teacher, mainly specialising in pre and post natal fitness and rehabilitation. Me and my family have just recently relocated back up to the north east in search of a more balanced and slower pace of life. So far we are absolutely loving it, there’s just something about the fresh air, happy people and gorgeous countryside and beaches which tick so many boxes. I’m still offering sessions in London with my wonderful team of trainers however if you would like to train with me I can offer sessions online or in the Newcastle area.
My interest in movement and exercise started at a very early age with dance, which I made into a career. My passion for helping people recover from injuries and improve their health and fitness developed after I was injured while performing in a musical. I decided to channel this experience into something positive and went on to complete extensive Personal Training and Pilates Qualifications.
I’m always learning and trying out new activities, and bringing new research or elements of fresh workout ideas into my training. But I’m not a believer in fads – it’s true that the most sustainable, long-term benefits come from a carefully tailored approach to fitness, supported by balanced nutrition. I bring a wide portfolio of skills and many different forms of training. My approach is holistic – alongside fitness, I like to look at nutrition, mindfulness and pilates. This includes teaching better breathing, posture and movement patterns – simple changes that can be incorporated into your daily life to make you feel fitter, healthier and uplifted. As a mum myself, I particularly enjoy helping other mums through my pre and post-natal work.
